Here are 15 Ways to Develop an “All Things Are Possible” Attitude.

Are you an optimist?  Do you always see the cup as half full?  Not all of us are this positive.

To build an ‘all things are possible attitude’ requires a change in your inner world.

It is time for you to meet your true self. Finding your true self-requires you to take down all the barriers that you have put up around yourself to keep you safe. Bringing down the walls is a long-term process.

Here are fifteen ways to develop an ‘all things are possible’ attitude:

1.      Discover what you enjoy doing in life for work and pleasure:

Do you like to work with your hands?  Are you a people person?  Do you enjoy helping people?  Are you a problem solver?

Be honest with yourself.  Discover what brings you joy.

Find things that you enjoy for pleasure. Volunteer for organizations in areas that you enjoy, you want to learn more about and feel comfortable in.

Make sure you do something enjoyable every day whether that be reading a book, going for a walk, making a nice meal and talking with a good friend. When you are happy everything is going to feel more hopeful.

2.      Slow down and breathe with intention:

To be confident you need to be in tune with your three energy centres, your instinctive (belly) center, your feeling (heart) center and your thinking (head) center. To access these centers requires you to open up.

Learning to breathe intentionally can help you to open these three centers.  There are many tools to help you do this including meditation, yoga, tai chi, prayer and any other method that helps you to quiet your mind, open your heart and become grounded in your body.

Choose a daily exercise.  It takes time to build a new practice into your life. What you do will change over time.  Whatever you choose will enhance your life until the day you die.

Remember this is no quick fix.  Your daily work is ongoing that will require your attention for the rest of your life. Connecting with your soul will take you on an experience of transformation that will take you to places you never dreamed possible.

3.      Remember you have value just for being you:

To know you have value requires an act of faith.  This act of trust goes against our western values that suggest you only have worth if you are financially productive.

You have worth for being you.  You were put on this planet because you have something important to give.  What you offer will change throughout your life, but you will always have something important to share.  Every form of life on our planet has a purpose.

4.      Listen to music that inspires you:

Music is a universal language. It deeply connects to your soul. It has the potential to change your attitude.

Choose music that inspires you. Maybe you want to make a playlist of music that has helped you through the ups and downs of life. Play it whenever you need that extra boost.

There is no wrong or right music. It depends on what you need.  You might need classical at night, rock in the middle of the day and jazz in the morning.  Everyone one of us will be different.

What works one day might need to change the next day.  You will know when you find the right music mix. You will be able to feel it in your body, heart and head.

5.      Pay attention to your inner critic:

You have an inner critic.  It is that part of your ego that kept you safe as a child. Often the inner critic is the voice of a parent, sibling or teacher who was an important figure in your growing up years.  But as an adult, the inner critic usually gets in your way.

The voice of the inner critic is usually, loud, impatient and angry.  Ignoring the inner critic is hard.  Getting angry with the inner critic will only make your situation worse

You will be at your best when you can acknowledge the voice of the inner critic. Let it know that you are an adult now and can take good care of yourself.  Take a deep breath and let those negative voices go.

6.      Dream: If you could do anything you want what would that be?

When you dream with an open heart, mind and body, you will always be on the right path.

The inner critic will try its best to trip you up. Whenever the inner critic gets loud, acknowledge it, thank it for trying to keep you safe.

Permit yourself to dream big.  You will know when you have found your dream.  You will see when you have found your passion.  You will feel a joy when you have discovered your vocation.

7.      Hang out with people who bring out the best in you:

Who are the people in your life who bring out the best in you?  Who are the people who inspire you?  Choose the people in your life who energize you.  Choose the people you know who will be honest with you.  Choose the people who will hang in with you no matter what happens.

First, you need to be healthy by remaining grounded, and secondly, you need to protect yourself from the negative energy of people disconnected from their true selves.

It will be smoother sailing ahead when you surround yourself with people who are at their best.

8.      Read inspiring books on topics of interest and just for fun:

What topics turn you on?  What are the books that inspire your passions?  What are the books that educate you about the vocation you have chosen or considering?   What books lighten your spirit and help you to not take life too seriously?

Remember most of these books are available through your local public library.  There is a wealth of information out there through books.  Use them and enjoy them to help you get the best out of life.

9.      Create a plan to help make your dream a reality:

Moving into your ‘all things are possible’ attitude will require building new habits.  Create a doable plan to make your dream come true.

Break it down into smaller steps, so the tasks don’t feel overwhelming.  Always remain open to changing the program when needed.  When things don’t go as hoped, don’t see it as a mistake but as an opportunity to learn.

Ask people to help you remain accountable to the plan.  Keep in mind that your inner critic, when under stress, will try to sabotage your project.  Always keep the long-term vision in view, so you don’t distress over the small things.

10.  Take small steps every day towards your goal:

Don’t take on more than you can.  Be realistic in how much you can accomplish.  You want your goals to push you but not too much that they overwhelm you.  When your goals are perfect for you-you will be able to notice the accomplishments you are making towards your goals.

11.  Find people with similar interests to bounce ideas:

Choose people, groups and organizations whom will inspire you in living into your vocation.

When you find the right people, groups and organizations you will feel a lightness and confidence that you are on the right path.

12.  Set healthy boundaries for your daily life:

You need to pay attention to yourself.  Your body will let you know when you are working too much. Your heart will let you know when you are not getting enough time with people you care about and who care about you.

Honour yourself by changing your behaviour when your inner self-lets you know that life is getting out of balance.

Don’t be afraid to say no to something that is going to hold you back from you doing your essential life work.  Don’t be scared to say no when you already have enough on your plate.  Don’t be afraid to say no to something that you do not have the skills or interest to do.

Remember you always have a choice.

13.  Find people to help you remain accountable for your plan to make your dreams come true:

Changing your attitude in life is probably one of the most significant steps you have ever taken in life.  You can’t do it alone.

You need other people to help you to stay on track. You need people in your life who can be honest with you if they feel you are going in the wrong direction.

You need people to encourage you through the rough times. Friends and colleagues who hold you to the promises you made for yourself.

You need people to remind you to take time for yourself, family and friends.  You need people to tell yourself not to take yourself too seriously.

14.  Celebrate your accomplishments:

Remember the journey is more important than the end.  Celebrate every achievement no matter how big or small they are.  Every feat is worth celebrating. Sometimes we forget the small successes along the way.  They are all important.

15.  Enjoy the ride:

Trust something good will come out of your new adventure even though it may not be what you expect.

Developing an ‘all things are possible’ attitude is a beautiful gift you can give to yourself.  It will bring lightness and joy to life.
